Description
The Rolex GMT-Master was born in 1955 in partnership with airline Pan Am, which needed a watch for its pilots on the new intercontinental routes that could show two time zones at once. The answer was an additional 24-hour hand combined with a rotating bezel, making a second zone readable alongside local time. In 1982 the GMT-Master II refined the idea with an independently adjustable hour hand, ideal for the modern world traveller. With its recognisable two-colour bezels, each of which earned its own nickname, it became one of Rolex's best-loved sports watches. The Sprite is the first left-handed GMT, with a green-and-black bezel and the crown at nine o'clock.
